A
Day on the Trail
A trek day starts around 6am with a steaming mug of tea, soon followed
by a bowl of warm water to wash with. After packing your personal
gear into the duffel and daypack, you have breakfast. Meanwhile
the trek crew break camp and pack the equipment. The day's trek
usually starts around 8am.
Trekkers walk at their own pace with a lead and a "sweep"
sherpa providing support throughout. The morning walk before stopping
for lunch lasts about three hours. Our lunch-sites are in peaceful
neighborhood (with great views wherever possible!) near a water
source. (On lodge treks, we stop at a wayside lodge). Lunch is a
light, hot meal, and a relaxing break for about 1½ hours.
After lunch we resume hiking for another two to three hours; camp
(or lodge) is usually reached between 3-4pm. Tea and biscuits are
served while the sherpas pitch camp.
The evening meal is served around 6:30pm in the dining tent lit
with candles and furnished with light campstools and tables. Meals
on lodge-treks are served in the dining hall. After dinner, the
trek leader or sirdar will brief trekkers on the following day's
trek. After this, you might want to retire to your sleeping tents
or linger on exchanging stories with other trekkers. We provide
top-quality camping equipment. A toilet tent is pitched at a stone's
throw from every camp. Basic toilet facilities are available at
every lodge.
The pace of the trek is relaxed and trekkers have time to see,
photograph and explore the countryside. On days when we arrive at
the day's stop early or mid-afternoon, those who like can opt for
exploratory hikes in the area. Anyone who is healthy and enjoys
the outdoors will certainly enjoy our treks.
