|
There's more to Nepal than temples and trekking. These extensions from one to four days can be combined with our treks and tours to give you a fuller Nepal experience. Discover the legacy of Nepal's natural heritage on a wildlife safari in the Chitwan or Bardiya National Parks. Walk through the timeless Newar settlements of the Kathmandu Valley rim on our Southern Settlements day-hike or Valley Vistas 3-day lodge trek. And experience the thrill of whitewater on a short rafting trip on the Bhote Kosi or the Kali Gandaki.
The National Parks of Nepal's lowland Terai are among the best in Asia, harboring endangered species such as the magnificent Royal Bengal Tiger and the Indian one-horned rhinoceros. Jungle lodges in the Royal Chitwan National Park, the Royal Bardiya National Park, and the Kosi Tappu Wildlife Reserve offer three-/ four-day tours with a host of activities to explore wildlife, including elephant safaris, canoeing, and nature walks. A wildlife safari in any of Nepal's wildlife sanctuaries is a memorable, educational, and relaxing extension to an exhilarating adventure holiday.
The Kathmandu valley rimland offers fine walks and short treks: plenty of easy, untrekked trails through scenic countryside interspersed with multi-ethnic villages. Our Kathmandu valley walks are a refreshing break from the city to experience unspoiled rural Nepal. The trips are easy to moderate grade, suitable for people of all ages. Southern Settlements, our classic day hike, offers unique cultural insights into the livelihood of the valley rim dwellers, particularly the Newars. The two- or three-day Valley Vistas is a good sampling of trekking in Nepal, using comfortable lodges in Dhulikhel and Nagarkot, two of the most popular vantage points in the Kathmandu valley.
Nepal offers excellent short rafting options around the year. These two- or three-day whitewater trips from Kathmandu and Pokhara are ideal for first-time rafters and also an excellent introduction to the rivers of Nepal. The two-day Bhote Kosi from Kathmandu is quite certainly Nepal's wildest short trip, while the three-day Kali Gandaki from Pokhara offers a more complete river experience. The Trisuli is a thrilling two-day trip at high-water flows during the Monsoon.
