Our Nepal stopover tours and family holidays are operated as private departures on dates of your choice. Our stopovers tours assume a minimum of two participants and our family holidays four. Our partnership with quality vendors ensures a comfortable holiday and a memorable experience. There are no join-ins or "pooling" once the tour starts. Trips involving overland journeys use 4WD Land Cruisers for small groups, and Toyota Coaster minibuses for larger groups. On groups of six and more, we provide qualified Nepalese tour leaders with excellent communication skills and a wealth of local knowledge. The tour leader makes a big contribution to making your Nepal experience smooth and memorable, accompanying you throughout your stay and acting as cultural interpreter and naturalist.
The tour cost quoted is the cost per person, and includes:
- Hotels: Accommodation in Kathmandu and Pokhara on twin-sharing, bed & breakfast basis (incl. tax).
- Chitwan: All meals and lodge accommodations on twin-sharing basis, all wildlife activities (incl. elephant-back safari, canoeing, bird-watching & nature walk), National Park entry fee.
- Trekking: All camping equipment on camping treks (incl. two-men tents, mattresses, camp table(s) & stools, camp-kitchen equipment), accommodation in two-/three-men tents, all meals (breakfast, lunch, & dinner, cooked by the camp kitchen crew), services of trek crew (guide, sherpa(s), cook & kitchen crew, porters to carry all luggage & equipment), applicable trekking/ ACAP permit/ National Park entry fees. If required, extra porters for children are provided on our family holidays.
- Rafting: All rafting and camping equipment, including life jackets, helmets and two-/ three-men tents.
- Tours/ Transfers: All guided sightseeing tours and land transfers as indicated on itinerary.
- Permits & Fees: All applicable entry fees on sightseeing tours.
- Tour leader: We provide a tour leader on groups of six or more. A tour leader can be provided upon request for smaller groups, upon additional cost.
Not included in the cost are:
- Meals other than indicated on itinerary.
- Flights: All internal flights are extra. Internal airfares are as indicated.
- Personal clothing & equipment (upon confirmation you’ll receive a clothing & necessity checklist of items we recommend you bring, items you can hire/purchase locally are indicated).
- Personal expenses, bottled/ alcoholic beverages, and tips to crew.
- Insurance: We strongly recommend that all tour participants be covered by their own personal insurance that also covers emergency evacuation. See Insurance & Liability below.
- Other unforeseen expenses that may arise due to factors beyond our control, like bad weather or flight cancellations.
- Nepal visa fee.
Our Nepal trips offer exceptional value, reflected in our choice of excellent economy hotels: the Nirvana Garden Hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu and Hotel Trek-O-Tel in Lakeside, Pokhara. Conveniently located close to tourist attractions, these simple, well-run establishments offer clean and comfortable accommodations in a peaceful setting. On trips including Chitwan, we use Island Jungle Resort superbly located on the Bandarjhola river island. We may use similar hotels in case of unavailability.

If you would like to use a hotel of your preference or upgrade to standard or deluxe category hotels, we'll be glad to quote you prices based on the hotel of your choice; in most cases we are able to offer a substantial discount on the hotel's published tariff. We do not provide insurance; participants must be covered with a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes emergency evacuation. We cannot be held responsible for any changes in the itineraries, flights, or accommodations from causes beyond our control, including but not limited to natural, technical, and political factors. While we will do our utmost to make your journey safe and comfortable, you travel at your own risk at all times. You will be asked to sign an assumption and release of risk form at the pre-departure briefing.
